I’ve got a lucky cat you bought in Chinatown,
And every time I see it wave I think of you,
I wonder if it’s saying hello or waving goodbye, and what’s implied,
Seems like my good fortune’s all run dry.
I’ve got a cactus plant you bought in Bethnal Green,
And every time I water it I think of you,
Should I bother to keep it alive, or let it die like you and I,
Guess it’s not the cacti’s fault you said goodbye.
I’ve got a wacky waving inflatable tube guy I bought from Toys ‘R’ Us,
And every time he flails his arms it makes me smile,
If he falls he gets up once more, better than before, and hits restart,
That’s one way to mend a broken heart.
